whether you’re married or not!
Navigating the blessing of having a child can be challenging to say the least. It’s where many marriages/relationships fall into a tail spin. In fact, sadly many people don’t know how to navigate this time successfully and breakup in the end.
It’s quite common for new parents to have challenges due to sleep deprivation and the stress of raising a baby, but those are not the only reasons.
Have you been fighting over parenting styles? Did your partner suddenly change? Are you fighting over duties? Do you feel like you’re working against each other instead of with each other?
The reality is that the masculine and feminine instinctual responses to raising a child get in the way of how wonderful it is to have a family, and if you don’t understand what’s happening, your relationship can quickly and painfully move toward breakup or divorce.
Half of all American children will witness the breakup of a parent’s marriage. Of these children, close to half will also see the breakup of a parent’s second marriage.
You don’t want to end up in that statistic. Most of the advice out there is about seeing one or the other of you as to blame for not working hard enough to keep your relationship together while being parents. But it’s not that simple.
Whether you’ve always wanted to be a parent or you were surprised by your bundle of joy, you’ve been blessed with an adorable baby, and now you have to learn how to share parenting responsibilities in a way that strengthens your relationship.
I work from a strong belief that you can Consciously co-create a great parenting relationship that is a win/win for both of you and your child by creating a plan that brings both of your unique perspectives to your experience. My job is to make sure you have the right skills and the right foundation to work together as partners, even when you have disagreements. Understanding, flexibility and acceptance are critical to making your life as parents work.
That’s why I created the 90 Day Parenting Year One Program to help you make relationship and parenting choices that work for both of you. The program includes, coaching, education and mentoring for your marriage success. (Ideally this program is entered together, but you can “fly solo” and get great results.)
Here’s what one happy couple has to say:
“Last December my husband said he wanted a divorce. I was devastated. Our daughter is two years old, and my husband and I were fighting over parenting styles. I started working with Kimi “solo” to try to save our marriage because I want my family together. Within two months the the talk about divorce was gone. We’re not fighting anymore, we’re actually having fun, and we’re talking about having another baby! Learning how men and women operate in the world, combined with coaching has made all the difference.” ~ Y.Z. Ann Arbor, Michigan
